Year 4 Trip to Hollytree Museum

Year 4 Trip to Hollytree Museum
January 9, 2020 monkwick

In Year 4 we have been learning about education of children through different eras, one of which is the Victorian era.

We are fortunate enough to have a museum in Colchester which has is a Victorian house that belonged to Mr Round. It is still filled with Victorian artifacts – Hollytree Museum.

At the museum there was a guided session and a self-guided session. In the guided session, pupils had to compare what existed then and what is similar to today, look at Victorian toys and what people had in their houses, as well as re-enact being in school. In the self-guided session, pupils made a puppet and designed a puppet show.  They also looked at more toys from then and now. They had a chance to look at a variety of school artifacts.
