Websites to Support Home Learning

Monkwick Junior School has a range of online tools that we use in school, that can also be accessed from home:

Times Tables Rock Stars

We also subscribe to Times Tables Rock Stars. This develops the children’s recall of multiplication facts.

Visit https://play.ttrockstars.com/login/45283 then pupils sign in as though they were at school. There are 3 single player modes: Garage, Studio and Soundcheck.  They can also challenge their friends in the Rockslam area! The more they play, the more coins they collect which can be exchanged in the rockstars’ shop.

Accelerated Reader

If you have finished a book, remember that you can still quiz on it from home. Go to https://ukhosted62.renlearn.co.uk/2237425/ and put in your usual log in details.

Purple Mash

All the pupils have their own Purple Mash account. Going on to www.purplemash.com pupils can search for our portal by beginning to type the school name. After a few letters our school name appears and can be selected. The children can now sign in as though they were at school.

The first place to visit is the red tab at the top of the home screen marked 2Dos. This is where the tasks for the class have been set by their teacher. All these tasks can be completed as easily at home as though they were at school. The software runs through the browser so should run on tablets and android devices as well as desktops and laptops. There are also programmes under the tools tab. Here are a few suggestions:

2Paint – use the tools to create your own artwork

2Quiz – create a quiz for others to solve

2Create a Story – become the author of a multimedia book

2Race – challenge the computer and improve your maths

Logo – develop your programming language

2Publish – combine text and graphics

Lexia

Pupils in Years 3 and 4 also have access to the literacy programme ‘My Lexia’. Visit lexiacore5/register

You will be prompted to type your teacher’s e-mail which will be lexia@monkwick-jun.essex.sch.uk

This will set up your device for Monkwick Schools, and the blue ‘Go to Login’ will take pupils to the school page where they will sign on as though they were at school. Unless you don’t mind the sounds, the children will benefit from a pair of headphones. The programme has differentiated challenges which involve extra teaching blocks so don’t be tempted to be overly helpful as the children may miss out on key teaching blocks.

Real PE

Real PE at home includes an online programme which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme specifically for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 with 12 themes, 6 areas, over 250 activities and challenges and 1000s of hours of fun and activity! This programme is also great for family play and fun.

It also includes a programme for children in Key Stage 2, with daily and weekly guidance provided for both programmes (starting from next week), as well as an option to choose your own themes and activities. There are many benefits to being active, not only to our physical wellbeing but also to our emotional and mental health. Here are the details to access Real PE at home:
