At Monkwick, we are a friendly school and we pride ourselves on our warm and caring family atmosphere, as well as high educational standards. We have 258 pupils who enjoy a safe and positive learning environment which is situated in the middle of the Monkwick Housing estate.  As a result we have strong links with the local community and constantly promote a positive attitude towards the value and importance of education; our motto is 'Inspiring Lifelong Learners'.  An exciting literacy based curriculum is being taught from September. This will be supported fully by ICT developments in the New Year.

Our environment is a real feature of our school, and we are lucky that the school is in a beautifull setting.  We have large areas of grassland which support an 'Activity Trim Trail', a very popular 'Tyre Park' and a large sports field for ball games.

The school is fortunate to have a border of mature trees which offer shade to its playing field, we also have a fenced area set aside as a 'Nature Zone'. This area has many more mature trees and shrubs which are an ideal habitat for small creatures, birds and mini-beasts.

Our after school 'Gardening Club' has an area of raised beds and maturing fruit trees, this club is very popular with teachers, children and parents too; especially when the children take their produce home.

To the front of the school there is a playground which includes delightful shaded seating areas. Children are encouraged to lunch and to spend quiet time there. Sketching lessons are often held there too, to the delight of the children and teachers.
